Amazing gallery of cans turned to cars!
Meet Sandy Sanderson from New Zealand. Needing something to keep himself occupied after breaking his wrist in a motorcycle accident, he started building amazing model cars from discarded aluminum cans.

I’m from South Africa, and here, these things are all over the place. You can pick these up for the equivalent of about $7 (USD) from many places on the side of the road.
Remarkably similar to this post..:)

I actually emailed Sandy at that time, and he was thrilled to have the cars featured. He was going to be coming out with a kit…still waiting to hear from him. Maybe it is time to ‘rattle his chain’ on that.
When I was a child in the 50s I had a red truck that had the cargo load move up and down. Underneath in a small spot that wasn’t painted was the logo of a beer company. The truck was made in Japan and back then the cans weren’t aluminum. It was in perfect condition and I wished I had kept it but felt good in donating it to a group that gave Christmas presents to children in need….probably why I remember it over many of my other toys that I just out grew.
Love Mr. Sanderson’s cars.
