“I have a Fender US Highway One series Stratocaster, which is a half decent guitar, but looks just like a million other Strats. I had been planning to replace the pick guard with a black mother of pearl guard but my experiments in electrolytic etching made me think I’d like to try something a bit more unique. Thus the Steampunk Strat was born.” – Link.

Very nice.
I’ve been idly surfing the internet all night (gotta love a night desk job) and this is by far the coolest thing I have seen!
I don’t even play and I’d buy one of those :)
Oooooh pretty!
Shouldn’t that be ‘a guitar with a picture of a clockwork on the pickguard’.
It’s a nice graphic and all, and electrolytic etching is an under-appreciated artistic medium, but the key syllable in ‘clockwork’ is ‘work’.
One is always allowed a certain artistic license in titling a work – but you are right it would be cooler if the gears and cogs actually functioned.
Of course, it then wouldn’t be much good for playing anything but the theme from Jeopardy.
