PJRC is an other option for a a DIY mp3 player. It is based off of a 8501 CPU, uses STA013 chip for audio and a FPGA for IDE and DMA RAM caching. It is not as cheap but the firmware is open source and the hardware is pretty good. There is a web site and a yahoo community group. Look at the web site for more information. :wq
Check out what they want for shipping. Lst time I saw one of these on Ebay I was all excited until I found out what it would cost to get one, and guy will not ship more then one at the same price. Typical scam where the price is low and the shipping is way way high.
I’ve just baught one for $26 and only paid $10 postage. Very decent.
I’ve done business with this gentlemen before and if you purchase multiple items you’re able to chisel him down on the price. Paying 2x the price of the item, even for international shipments is outrageous.
