In an alternate Old West universe, folks played synthesizers, and they called ‘em “Phantastrons.” Incorporating tubes, steel panels, and a branded wooden crate ripe for customization, this is one unusual synth kit. The power supply comes mostly assembled, but the 30s-era “turret board” is a challenge for seasoned solderers. Not your standard volt-per-octave functionality; this oscillator beast can be steered via amplified audio, or control-voltage signals, reacting with a rebellious voice. Plus, the onboard controls and rotary selector offer three waveforms to tweak pitch. Though it would be a welcome addition to my “guitarsenal,” I foresee using this as the core of an unusual instrument.

Howdy all,
We’re currently restocking our brand new shop space in Austin, TX. Phantastron kits will be stocked and available again in January! (Keep an eye out for sale pricing at that time too). Thank you Make for posting this fine review.
