DIY Japanese Bookbinding With Embroidered Covers

Have you spun a tale that’s ready for DIY publishing? Then go ahead and thread your needle and stitch your story into a beautiful book, like these elegant examples of Japanese bookbinding with embroidered covers by Anne of Flax & Twine.

I find the design of the binding simply charming against the paperboard. Imagine this book, too, with whatever embroidery you choose–an initial, a favorite animal, a geometric design. Or, leave the embroidery off altogether and simply highlight the binding.

As Anne suggests, this tutorial project makes for great gifts and it’s an especially good method for those of us who are more comfortable writing with a needle and thread than they are with a pen!
