The second day of the Drones & Aerial Robotics Conference (DARC) opened with Colin Guinn of DJI providing a demonstration of their latest quadcopter. The new Phantom Vision will be available soon, and will include a camera and WiFi downlink to your smartphone.
Following the demonstration, Colin discussed his opinions on how regulations might develop around drones and aerial photography. He explained that it is important for companies and users of drones to work with the FAA. He pointed to how his own company worked with lawmakers in Texas in defining HB 912. This law relates to images captured by unmanned aircraft and provides for penalties to be paid. “We all want the same thing,” Colin says. “We want to be able to operate safely in the air space.”
