How-To: Transfer a Photo onto a Slice of Wood

Tired of putting your photos into right angled frames? Give this ink to wood transfer technique a try.

You can find ready to use kiln dried wood slices at most large craft stores. If you want to use your own DIY slice of wood cut from a fallen tree, be aware that if not dried with the proper equipment, it will likely crack as it dries, which could actually have a neat effect too.

You’ll have to mirror your image before printing, or it will turn out backwards in the final product. This technique also calls for the use of an inkjet printer plus all the materials seen below.
