I didn’t actually view all of it, but the opening question is “can we get more people to take the stairs by making them fun?”.
I think I passed through this very station on the day of filming, I remember seeing a bunch of people doing rigging work close close to the staircase. Never got to see it working in full-blown piano-mode, though.
Something similar (musical steps) was set up at the St. Paul Science Museum (MN) decades ago. I watched in both horror and amusement as someone fell down the steps.
There should have been a rim shot at the bottom…
It could be interesting have a contest. Find different locations with steps next to escalators and find interesting ways to convince people to use the steps like they did here (without talking to them). Whoever has the highest percentage of stair use wins!!!
