I spent more time than I expected reading about “Reborn dolls” – this is a very unique hobby –
The term Reborn Doll refers to a vinyl baby doll, that has been customized by a process of repainting and enhancement to resemble a human baby. The process of creating a Reborn Doll is referred to as Reborning.
The technique of Reborning has evolved over the past five years, as hobbyists and doll artists have refined the painting techniques, and added technical enhancements, such as a heartbeat simulator. More recently special Reborn doll kits are available, and mechanical enhancements are seen, such a battery powered breathing mechanism to simulate the breathing movements of a sleeping baby.

Not only are the reborn babies fun to collect but they can be very theraputic, especially for women. Studies have shown that holding and cuddling a baby, whether a real baby or a realistic baby, releases hormones in the body that promotes emotional well being.
