MAKE chum Jake von Slatt points us to a beautiful remake of his steampunk keyboard and monitor by Dave Veloz with the addition of a gorgeous Mac Mini mod. It’s for his fiance, no less! Jake writes:
He’s done an absolutely beautiful job, outdoing me in several respects, the first being the use of actual granite for the monitor’s base! The keyboard is nearly identical to mine, the major difference being the use of leather rather then black felt and his treatment of the Mac mini its connected to is brilliant in its simplicity and execution.
Great mod for a lucky lady – Link.

I’m kind of growing tired of steampunk (ok, I’m really tired of steampunk) but I love that mac mini. I’m not sure why.
Probably because it doesn’t go overboard with copper pipe fittings and guages and other useless all over it.

There is no reason technology shouldn’t be aesthetically pleasing. Plenty of neon and LEDs in most case mods that add nothing to the technology, but makes for good adornment.
Great work on the Nixie tube clock as well. Thanks for the link.
Oh please – can we make it stop!
Enough with the steampunk already.
One person did something clever with steampunk design and now everybody has to publish images of his/her own unoriginal/unispired steampunk crap.
For the love of god – enough already! Can this trend be over already?
