Switthoft’s text message bottles via NOTCOT. The maker writes –
Each bottle contains a text message that I have avoided deleting from my selfoan. The messages are printed in braille on used 1/2-inch Ampex audio tape. The end of each message is wound and adhered to the respective leather corks.

It took me a minute to realize that what you’re doing here is creating physical mementos of text messages that have been important to you emotionally, like saving love letters. The form is aesthetically pleasing and the idea of a “(text) message in a bottle” is clever. Plus the expedient of using Braille encodes the information in a retrievable way but without revealing the intimate details of the messages to observers, so the bottles may be kept in the open to act as a reminder of the memories they represent.
I like it!

into what makes something
