Tim’s TV programs here in the UK really inspired me aged ten (The secret life of machines). You can now download all of his brilliant series online too. He and Rex Garrod take things to pieces, explain how they work in wonderfully easy to understand chunky, and all of the animations he drew himself. He might just be the original British maker.

We’ve covered these before but the latest videos are in multiple formats including iPhone (m4v).

I remember seeing this show on Discovery in Jr. High School – I didn’t understand most of what they were saying since their English accent was too strong for me, but I eventually learned what they meant.
Great show!
They were all great, but some of the highlights in my memory were:
Making a magnetic tape using sticky tape and rust and then recording & playing back with it was incredible.
Sending an image between two lathes, in the style of the first fax machines.
Demonstrating the power of the explosion in a cars piston by firing a can of veg into the air, much higher than they expected/intended ;-}>
