Meine Kleine Fabrik has a great write up about the discovery of these glass sea creatures that were found in a locked antique cabinet in the fall of 1957 at Cornell University. Turns out these glass beauties were highly detailed teaching models of ocean invertebrates, made by Leopold (1822-1895) and Rudolf (1857-1939) Blaschka of Dresden, Germany. Read on for this great story. Thanks s.a.! Link.

Hey, I saw a whole bunch of these little amazing creatures! But they were all dead and being washed up on shore! I saw this yesterday at umkomaas, on the south coast! Is this usual for them to wash up in this area? I ask because I have never seen them before!
