Holiday Gift Guide: Sewing

Holidaygiftguide2010 Sewing
We are kicking of our CRAFT Holiday Gift Guide series today with one of my favorite crafts, sewing. Putting this sewing gift guide was a lot of fun and let’s just say I had to contain myself from pressing the “add to cart” button for every item!

Liberty of London Coin Purse Kits ($45)
This perfectly put together kit comes from the folks at one of my favorite places, Purl Soho. As a sewer myself, this is a gift I know I would love to receive. The kit coms with everything you need to make up to three coin purses (you’ll have to get 2 more clasps if you do) and it’s a project a sewer can quickly make and enjoy. Choose from three different fabrics and colors.

Heatherbailey Sewingpatterns Giftguide
Heather Bailey Sewing Patterns ($4.95-$12.95 at Heather Bailey)
Heather Bailey is one of my favorite designers and I love her expanded line of sewing patterns. Make cute bags (the Market Tote is my favorite) or adorable plush toys for kids.
Sugarpop Charm Pack
Moda Sugar Pop Charm Pack ($9 at Sew, Mama, Sew)
I love fabric and any sewing lover will too so this Sugar Pop charm pack comes with forty two 5″ charm squares perfect for any kind of sewing project.
Amybutler Thread
Rowan Amy Butler Thread (click for a list of retailers)
I’ve never seen thread in more beautiful, vibrant shades of color than the Rowan’s new Amy Butler premium thread collection. 100% extra long Mercerized Egyptian Giza cotton thread is dyed to coordinate with Amy Butler’s fabric collections “Love” and “Soul Blossoms”. Each set comes with 9 spools in sweet (and recycled) gift boxes that coordinate with the fabrics.
Needlebooks Giftguide
Needlebook ($18 at PaperFish on Etsy)
Every sewer needs a little needlebook to store needles and more when you are on the go. I love the cute designs by PaperFish on Etsy where you can choose from a variety of designs such as Russian Doll and Puppy Love pictured above. The book ring is a different kind of design from typical needlebooks and I love that there are 4 double sided felt discs so you can use each side. You really just want to hang this cuteness off the side of your tote bag!
Bookcover Fashiongeek Giftguide
Fashion Geek by Diana Eng ($18.99 at Maker Shed)
Former Project Runway contestant and designer Diana Eng teaches you both the sewing and technology basics you need to create your own light-up skirt, twinkling shoes, and music-filled hoodie. With step-by-step instructions and how-to photos, learning the ins and outs of creating with LEDs, EL wire, and zigzag stitches couldn’t be easier.
