Making Ukuleles with CNC Router Parts

The CNC Router Parts team has prepared a great demo of CNC routing technology for Maker Faire Bay Area 2016 and they are going to be sharing it with a number of lucky attendees. Instead of a small little demo piece, CNC Router Parts are creating full size working ukuleles all weekend, using their collection of computer controlled machines.

The ukulele bodies and necks are each being milled layer by layer from solid blocks of maple while attendees watch on. The team brought a plasma cutter also to cut the sound boards (in awesome Makey patterns) from steel for the top of the ukes. The bridge and fretboards are both being milled from aluminum finishing off the project.

These demos are a great example of the versatility of CNC mills. While 3D printers tend to be easier to get started with for new users, CNC mills can deliver parts that come in a wide range of materials.
