Back in stock! Make: Electronics Components Pack 1

The Make: Electronics Components Pack 1 is finally back in stock and shipping! The first companion pack to our wildly popular Make: Electronics book covers all of the experiments (1-11) from the first two sections of the book. We’ve spent (many!) hours sourcing all these parts, so you don’t have to. This pack will get you right into it experimenting, and most of the parts are re-used throughout the book, so it’s a great starting point. Over 300 parts are included in the kit!

Special: Order by October 31st, and receive a $10 Maker Shed gift certificate as a special thanks for hangin’ in there while we were out of stock.

    WARNING !!!!

I’m working through Make:Electronics Book, by Chales Platt, with the components
pack 1. I Bought the kit almost one year ago and finally had time to start. Great Book except for a few errors here and there. One Major oversight on both parties (Maker Shed and author)regarding the 12 vdc adapter. More emphasis should be placed on the care with respect to the adapters use. A statement regarding the fact that the adapter holds voltage for a long time after its unplugged. There should also be a comment about a safe method of discharging it. A Bigger issue yet is the dangerous adapter that Make has supplied with the kit. The voltage indicator switch on the adapter does not indicate the correct voltage. I was working through experiment number 7, Relay Driven LEDs, and set the voltage to 12 volts dc. I heard a few things sizzling. I confirmed that the voltage switch on the adapter was set to 12 Vdc and then checked it with my multi-meter. Guess what? It read 21 plus volts. The correct setting is 6 Vdc. That’s right! A 6 vdc on the adapter is equal to 11.6 vdc is real life. I would appreciate a new relay. Thanks in advance.
