MAKE founder and publisher Dale Dougherty was awarded KAPi’s “pioneer” award the CES conference in Las Vegas this past week. The award was one of several the organization granted for innovation in children’s technology.
Dale accepted the award on behalf of “makers everywhere who are out creating, making, and building new things,” especially young makers who he said grow in number every year.
Produced by Living in Digital Times and Childrenโs Technology Review, the fourth annual KAPi Kids at Play Awards honors standout achievement in childrenโs technology. This yearโs KAPi Award winners were selected from a pool of 712 apps, video games, toys, and other commercial digital products designed for children, as well as individuals who have make their mark in the world of childrenโs tech.
โGetting the most respected thought leaders in kidsโ media to agree is no easy task, but this year itโs clear to see that weโve identified 10 winning technologies and technologists that have kidโs best interest at heart,โ said Robin Raskin, founder of Living in Digital Times.
โWe always learn so much from the KAPi juror discussion,โ said Warren Buckleitner, editor of Childrenโs Technology Review. โEach category had many possible winners; at the end of the day we had to choose just one that raised the bar over last year.โ
