15th anniversary Hackers party

Home

hackers.jpgWhat is Hackers? Only the best movie ever made, with or without hackers. If you’ve never seen it, it was a Hollywood hacksploitation movie released in ’95, featuring cool teen gray-hats battling frowny squares. Oh yeah.

Despite its inauspicious premise, the film actually touched on numerous positive notes about the hacker community, thanks in part to the films’ producers attending 2600 meetings and consulting with the magazine’s publisher, Emmanuel Goldstein.

In any case, October 2nd marks the film’s 15th anniversary, and some people are throwing a party.

Have you ever dreamed of hacking the Gibson? Wearing rollerblades to a party? Playing a beta of Wipeout on a massive projection screen? Listening to Orbital’s Halcyon & On & On while spinning in a telephone booth wearing a virtual reality visor in Grand Central?

Now is your chance to come embrace the ridiculousness and imagination of Hackers the movie — a film that inspired a generation of internet enthusiasts.

We’re celebrating the 15th anniversary of the film’s premier with a cyberpunk fête on October 2nd 2010.

So, why should you pay a bunch of money to go to some party? Beyond its coolness, they’ll be donating any leftover money to the EFF.

    …And no 15th anniversary Blu-Ray?

Come on, I need Hackers in HD so I can appreciate all those hilarious signs with slogans that seem to be put up randomly on almost every set.
