Rob also has a cool Arduino LED Dimming Example using a paper lamp shade. It looks cool, but I tend to find for task specific mods, such as making an LED night light or lamp, its often far cheaper to cannibalize something that already exists than using a multi-purpose device like Arduino. For example, to acquire the guts for a LED night light or lamp that I could adapt to a variety of lamp models with a verity of lamp shades, I’d cannibalize the parts from the glade plugins scented oil night show. Not only is this $12 night light with 3 LED’s capable of several settings, its an air freshener as well. Rather than using the glade oils, buying large bottles of scented oils to refill the little bottle that came with the light originally is much more economical. I see this cannibalization as being in the same mindset as Rob’s modification of how the wire curtain rod is used. Do you or he know if Ikea sells just the little metal pegs that keep the wire away from the wall?
