Cardamom and Cream Cheese Squares

I have a real weakness for cheesecake, and have loved cardamom ever since my mom and I toiled over a bubbling pot of gulab jamon (Indian cardamom dumplings) for a 6th grade project. Here, at long last, are two of my loves married in one scrumptious-looking dessert: cardamom and cream cheese squares.
