We’re nine days away from Wold Maker Faire New York 2016, and one of the projects we’re doing there is the one-day brick pizza oven, our cover story from the latest issue of Make: magazine and one of our top online projects of this year. It’s fantastic — build it in a couple hours following its very easy design, cook your pizzas to deliciousness, then pull it apart and stash it away when cooled down.
Here’s the thing: At the end of Maker Faire, the oven has to go away. And that’s where you come in! We’re going to give this thing to one of you. Which one? Well, the one that can promise us that they’ll be able to come pick everything up at the NY Hall of Science at the end of the Faire on Sunday, October 2nd (or very early on Monday Oct. 3rd). You’ll need a medium-sized pickup truck that can tote about 200 bricks (approximately 1000 pounds), and the ability to help move those bricks and other supplies from their spot into your truck. This will likely be easiest if you are already at the Faire that day, but isn’t a requirement.
Being totally clear, the oven will be disassembled by then — you’ll have to reassemble it when you get home. But with the plans and parts in place, this should only take a couple hours.
Are you down? Then email us (editor@makezine.com) with the subject line “I want the pizza oven,” give us your contact info (phone, email) and a promise us that you’ll indeed come and get it, and we’ll get back in touch.
(There’s only one oven, so only one person will be selected.)
