Kid’s Kitchen: Fruity Yogurt Dip

Food & Beverage

In the Kitchen

Many kids will try just about anything as long as they have something yummy to dip it in. I say many, not all, because my 6 year old doesn’t fit into this category. But my daughter is a natural born dipper.
Chicken, grilled potatoes, hot dogs, and fish are all gobbled with gusto when dipped in ketchup. Just about any vegetable is beloved with a dabble of ranch dressing to dip them in. While fruit tastes sweet all by itself, it’s even more fun to dip it in this Strawberry Yogurt Dip.

Feel free to switch it up. Try peaches, raspberries, blueberries, pineapple, or bananas to the yogurt mixture. Or get creative with a few combinations.
This is a great recipe to get kids involved in the kitchen. Mine love to help spoon the ingredients into the food processor and press the button when I say it’s time.
And because the fruit doesn’t need to look pretty, this is a great chance to teach them some knife skills. Many fruits are soft enough to cut with a butter knife, so let them have a go (ages 3 and up). They’ll feel so proud of their accomplishment!

1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
8 ounces plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
1/4 cup cream cheese
, softened
1 – 3 tbsp(s) honey, to taste
1 tsp fresh lemon juice

Step 1: Wash strawberries. Remove stems and discard. Chop the strawberries.
Step 2: Add the yogurt, cream cheese, honey, and lemon juice to a small food processor. Puree until smooth.
Step 3: Add the chopped strawberries to the yogurt mixture. Puree until very smooth. Spoon mixture out into a bowl, chill for 30 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit for dipping.
