Mess-Approved Recipe Holder

Food & Beverage

I’ll be honest – I make I mess when I cook. There’s food splatter on everything. I also tend to ::still:: save recipes out of magazines or print them out from online. Realizing paper and splatter actually DON’T mix, I decided to make a quick recipe faux book of some of my favorite collected recipes that are officially OK to keep next to the mixer.

It’s really not that hard to make something like this – take your clipped-out recipes, tape them down to a favorite color of cardstock and laminate. If you save up enough recipes, you can take them to an office store and have them laminated. For something less expensive, cover the back and front with clear Contact paper. I have access to a laminating machine, so I went with that route.
The idea with this faux book is that I hold on to some of my recipe favorites for fast reference – quick dinners, soups, salads, desserts… anything that works when I’m in a pinch to make a meal for myself. I punched four holes across each card at the same interval so that I could binder rings and hold everything together. It can be as big or small as you’d like.
I also added plain white index cards that are also laminated. They act as dividers, and with a dry-erase marker, you can label each section as you feel fit. Change it as necessary! On top of the whole book is un-laminated recipe card so that I can quickly write down a favorite recipe and hand off to a friend.
There you go. I think I need to go make some cookies…
