Ever wanted to brew your own beer? Have you tried and failed miserably? The Maker Shed’s new Brooklyn Brew Shop Beer Making Kits will have you brewing like a pro in no time. With this kit you will learn the true steps of brewing by making a grain mash, sparging, hopping, yeasting, fermenting, bottling, and then drinking your delicious homebrew. The 1 gallon size makes it manageable to do on a stove unlike typical 5 gallon kits. The results are truly amazing and the taste is as good or better than you get from most commercial beer. Includes everything you need to brew 1 gallon of delectable beer at home except a stove, strainer, funnel, and a pot. Available in two different flavors; Everyday IPA and A Well Made Tripel.

It looks like a neat little product, and the last thing I want to do is come down on getting more people to brew their own beer, but a 1 gallon brew is only going to give you about 10 12 oz bottles. Also, it’s a little disingenuous to say that typical 5 gallon kits can’t be done on a stove. I’ve been doing extract brews with 2.5 gal boils on my stove (adding water after the boil for 5 gallons total) for a while. Sometimes on gas, sometimes on electric.
I agree with Chris. It is a fun project and 1 gallon might even be a decent sized batch if you’re saying your readers are the sort to drink alone. But the price to end up with a gallon of beer is just insanely high unless I’m misreading and you get several batches out of this kit. 5 gallon kits typically cost around $17 here, and obviously there’s a huge selection, not just 2.
