19-year-old German Lego fan Kevin Walter used CAD program LDraw to ‘build’ this awesome starship. If actually built the model would be 13′ long by 11′ wide by 5′ high and use 274,350 bricks. See Walter’s Flickr page for more renders. [via Brothers Brick]

It’s a neat idea, and I don’t mean to put the creator down, but there’s two ways to make a LEGO sculpture stand out:
First, build (not just design, but build) something incredibly huge. If this was more than a render, I’d be impressed.
Or you can create (build or just design, in this case) something that looks good without being huge. This is the harder one. Anyone can scale a model up until the LEGO voxels are so tiny you barely see them. It takes real vision to create a Bird of Prey that’s only a foot across but still looks like an impressively accurate model.
