    I wonder if this couldn’t be implemented much simpler using the wake on modem feature that many motherboards have along with a simple IR receiver on the serial port, using the pin that the wakeup feature uses.

    but but but your “pc” is brand new and we are are still upgrading our older PCs. Look around, people don’t bother with old macs- they are worthless. Old PCs will always have a use with upgrades like these.
