There seems to be a split in the Maker world, half watch football, the other half doesn’t know it’s Superbowl Sunday… so first up, post in the comments, which camp are you in? Or something different? Sixty-one percent of Americans plan to watch the game! Either way, here are some fun projects and football inspiration for the big day!

HOW TO – Stadium seating for Superbowl Sunday – Paul and his roommates planned on building stadium seating in their living room. The living room isn’t too spacious and only had enough room for two futons. So, just in time for Superbowl Sunday, they created a cheap deck for stadium seating. All it required was plywood, 4×4 & 2×4 wood, a box of wood screws and basic tools.
100-inch uber Superbowl screen on a budget… After Paul and his roommate built a stadium seating setup for their living room then they went one step further and added a 2500 lumen projector to the mix to create the ultimate home theater system on a budget…

Cute crochet football cozy!
Simple 4 step design for recycling two old t-shirts into one handbag. This design uses an old football jersey for a quick drying beach bag.

Step 1: Go to Best Buy and get a 3,000 inch TV
Step 2: Take the TV home, turn it on, drink beer
Step 3: Return the TV on Monday
I don’t care about football, but I usually watch superbowl until i get bored (read: halftime show, because it always sucks)
anyway, its obverhyped, and most people who watch it also dont care about football.
sidenote: the two teams playing have 0 fans total
I’m not a fan of either team, but it’s the Superbowl. You gotta watch it! Gonna go hang out with friends, drink some beers, and have a good time (then go home and work on my LED clock project [if I’m coherent enough to do so]).
In the UK football is what you call soccer and your football is referred to as American Football. Frankly, I couldn’t care less about either sport.
@Archibald Twang: agree with you 100%!
Anyway, we’re too busy here making things to watch sport of any kind. Now, time to get back to making that groundbreaking 68000 machine with bitmapped screen and revolutionary “pointing device”…
All over the office tomorrow there will be Superbowl talk. I’ll alternate between ignoring it and having my eyes glaze over. Instead of watching ‘The Game’ I’ll be setting up a new Linux machine to run XBMC.
I don’t even have television in my apartment, I refuse to watch just about anything with commercials aimed at the “average” (overweight and unintelligent) American. Call me unamerican, but I think football is boring. No care ever.
Wait… It’s the superbowl?
I’m a proud Maker who’s WAY into football. Although, I prefer the college game to the pros.
I’m with the ‘don’t watch’ crowd. 30 guys on the field badly needing a rest and 30,000 guys in the stands badly needing the exercise… I’d rather play the sport or just go outside and do something constructive, my garden, making my sailboat, climb a tree, fix the neighbor’s kid’s bike… Hey, I’d rather pick up garbage in my back yard than watch some strangers getting paid thousands of times what I get, to do what I could be doing, going outside and getting fresh air and exercise.
Can’t you do both?
