The polyreactory assemblage of contemplation, gadgetry, and exothermic liberation (from the Kircher Society)…

January’s Inaugural Meeting of the Athanasius Kircher Society concluded with Jesse Ferguson setting off a 20-ft. long Rube Goldberg-esque contraption that he had constructed across the length of the stage. The spring-loaded, balloon-popping, laser-emitting, semi-automatic-rubber-band-shooting, fireball-producing contraption was designed in Seattle, mailed to New York, and reconstructed in a single afternoon. Jesse has now uploaded a video of his Polyreactory Assemblage in its native environs, his apartment.

Fire stunts in apartments are not cool. That said, as long as its YOUR apartment, it’s a cool homage to Rube Goldberg.

I sat in the Tech Museum watching that video. It’s about 30 minutes long and entirely hypnotic.
