There were lots of events happening in the craft world this weekend. Here’s a recap of 2 of the events we attended. (Jenny will have a full recap soon of the CRAFT launch party that was in LA on Sunday.)
ICE in Atlanta
CRAFT’s own Ginny Robinson (pictured above bottom left with ICE’s Christy Petterson) headed to Indie Craft Experience in Atlanta to work the CRAFT booth in the southern heat. Here’s what she had to say:
ICE Atlanta? Anything but cold! This particular day was hot- hot- HOT! Crafters, live bands and folks strolling Centennial Olympic park- eating icees and ducking under tents to beat the 92 degree heat! The kick off party at Youngblood Gallery’s new space on Friday night started the weekend off just right. Faythe Levine’s preview of Handmade Nation was shown to a captive audience.
Lotta Prints in San Francisco
In San Franciso on Saturday at Craft Gym, Chronicle Books had a launch party for Lotta Jansdotter’s new book, Lotta Prints. CRAFT’s Editor in Chief Tina and I were there among the huge crowd of crafters who were busy making their own prints from all the various stencils, potatoes, and more that were available to work with. More photos can be seen in my Flickr set.
Look at this beautiful print Tina did on one of her cashmere sweaters!
Tina writes:
I’d been wanting to do something with it for so long — at least 5 years!! — and finally the perfect opportunity presented itself. Thanks Lotta! She helped me with the printing too.
