They should do this to every tree in Los Angeles. (Tree Cozy by Carol Hummel.)

Tree Loversays:
Trees and other natural beings are beautiful as they are. Why put some artifical non-necessary “stuff” onto them and waster the earth’s already limited resources on projects like this?
Tree Huggersays:
I generally like the projects on this site, but I agree with Tree Lover’s comment. Trees do not need sweaters! Will this “sweater” inhibit birds and other animals from taking shelter in this tree? Please remove it, and free this tree!!

If you check the link, you’ll see this “tree cozy” was an art project. I don’t believe it was intended as a permanent addition to the tree, and I’m not serious about covering every tree in knitting. Just making the point that it does look beautiful. :)
Camsays:
I know it looks cool, but this will kill the poor tree! Especially since it is covering so much of the trunk and branches. What the “sweater” is doing basically, is creating a safe haven for bugs and all sorts of nasty critters that see the tree as dinner. They have all sorts of new holes and nests that birds won’t be able to find or penetrate. Please, if you are the person who put this up and are reading this, take it down.
