Slight mistake by Skylar. Acetylene isn’t “two parts hydrogen and two parts oxygen” – that’s (kind of) hydrogen peroxide.
Acetylene is two atoms of carbon bound between two atoms of hydrogen. It gets so hot because of the lovely triple C≡C bond.
