We’re less than a week out from Maker Faire Bay Area, and things are really gearing up for a fantastic weekend. As a special countdown to Maker Faire, we’ll be profiling some of the awesome folks who will be at Bazaar Bizarre at Maker Faire. Even if you aren’t able to be at Maker Faire, you don’t want to miss out on the work of these fantastic vendors. Today we introduce you to Foamy Wader.
Tell us about what you’ll be showcasing at Maker Faire/Bazaar Bizarre:
For the Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire I will have my handmade gemstone jewelry, lots of pop art rings (including Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Paige, Mucha prints and more!) as well as my knit beards in an assortment of colors.
How did you get started hand crafting your goods?
I began making jewelry as a hobby. My mom has been making jewelry (as well as soap, Halloween costumes, truffles, etc.) for as long as I can remember. I love figuring out how things are made and decided to try my hand at making. From the first wire wrap I was hooked.
What are your main sources of inspiration?
Art, nature, song lyrics, movie quotes. Often I’ll let the gemstones inspire me before finding the words or the story for the piece.
What new idea (in or outside of your field) has excited you most recently?
Sqaure!
What is your motto?
There is no wrong.
