It’s no secret around here that I’m a huge geek, and scrolling through our Geek Crafts archives is one of my favorite pastimes. I was thrilled that we were able to devote an entire month to Geek Crafts back in September, and here are some of my favorite projects from that month. Go out and get your geek on!
How-To: Firefox Necklace
It’s no surprise that Becky’s video tutorial for making your own Firefox pendant was a huge hit during our Geek Crafts month. It’s some of the finest geek jewelry I’ve ever seen!
How-To: Musical Darwdio Puppet
Angela Sheehan showed us how to create a fun and musical plush toy with some simple electronics. Angela also did a great demo of some simple audio puppets at World Maker Faire in New York this year, and they were hugely popular.
How-To: LED Embroidery
Becky is at it again as she shows you how to add electronics to your embroidery projects for an extra geeky kick.
How-To: LED Hula Hoop
I love this project from our own Brookelyn Morris for creating a beautiful custom LED hula hoop. I may not be very good at rocking a hula hoop, but this LED one makes me want to try harder.
How-To: Geek Bike Helmets
Jessica Wilson’s geeky bike helmets made me laugh out loud. Based on Pee Wee Herman’s famous helmet he donned at the end of every episode of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, she showed how to create a couple of different versions of your own geeky bike helmet.
