This Saturday, August 17, North Carolina makers are converging upon the Holly Hill Mall from 10a.m. to 6p.m. to share their what they make at the second annual Burlington Mini Maker Faire. The list of makers is extensive and varied, ranging from Jim Branley’s Wireless Energy Tesla Coil (pictured above) to (seen below) Bob Gusek’s 3D printed art, Stephen Wishnevsky‘s amazing guitars, and Stephen Chapman‘s steampunk art props, to name a few. Presented by the Alamance Makers Guild, the event is free and open to everyone.

From their site:

Our goal is to open a maker space (through our sponsor Harris Educational) and share the joys, knowledge, skills and community of being creative. We are makers, artists, programmers, tinkerers, boffins, crafters, woodworkers, blacksmiths, educators, and folks who think “how can I make that?” instead of “where can I buy that?”

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.
