Following on President Obama’s call to “begin again the work of remaking America”, Maker Faire 2009 will be organized around the theme of Re-Make America. We’re looking to showcase “the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things.”
Crafty makers, this is your chance to share your skills and knowledge with the Bay Area community and to connect with other crafters. At Maker Faire Austin back in October, my favorite place to hang out was the area for crafty makers. I watched people felting in plastic zip bags, learned all about the art of Pysanky, watched a woman demonstrate how she creates concrete and tile quilts and so much more. It was a crafter’s dream, and it was the group of crafty makers who made it come true.
What crafty skill do you have to share with the Bay Area community and beyond? Let us know, and apply to be a Maker at this year’s Maker Faire. We’d like to thank those folks who have already applied and remind you that we’re just under 12 weeks away from this year’s Maker Faire Bay Area, and just under two week from the final deadline for the Call to Makers. The application process is simple and doesn’t take long at all.
We are also looking for Makers with projects in the following categories:
– Sustainability
– Alternative Energy
– Clean Tech and Green Tech
– Community and Group Based Projects
– Lost Crafts
– Artisanal Food Makers
– Student Projects
– and more….
