This is pretty interesting, a clock kit and a contest to mod up a case –
These kits have the display, breakout board with the “buttons” and the power supply (all the same features as our Gator and Alba clocks) All you need to do is make a cool case to house them in!! Think of this as a Skill Defining Kit, we will supply you with the parts and support, all you have to do is put the parts in your own pretty case!

If someone made a kit like this that did WVVB time correction, I’d be all over it.
In fact, anyone know of any WVVB kits?
I second mathew.
We’ve all got extra wall warts. How about a Make contest for designing an extensible clock kit. Where the winning entry will have the PCB etched & available at a reasonable cost?
Not focused on the case, but on the clock’s features or extensibility to include other features. Ambient light detector? Time sync? Second time setting? Second (or third) alarm? Clock runs from owner? Battery backup? POV display? Non-physical buttons?
There’s been a long list of clocks with an interesting feature. Or two. But poking into several of them, they aren’t easily extensible to have certain other features.
i’m not opposed to to a contest like that, i’ll see what i can do.
I looked at this competition yesterday and I like the idea of it. But I agree with the others, the same idea but allow us to hack the electronics and add some unique features. I’d participate in a competition like that.
