We’ve just started Day Two of Maker Faire Austin, and there are a ton of awesome crafty things to explore here. If you are coming out today, be sure to check out this list of “don’t miss” Makers. If you aren’t lucky enough to be in Austin right now, just enjoy the pictures and make plans now to come to next year’s Faire.
Make Pysanky Eggs with Kristy of craftastica. This is one I’m about to head out and try myself. She has several eggs on display, loads of gorgeous dyes and all the tools you need to make an egg and take it home with you.
The Amazing Hancock Brothers have a huge printing press and a whole slew of gorgeous hand-carved wood blocks. If you bring a shirt, bag, fabric – whatever – you can pick an image from their stash and they’ll print it for you. Images range in size from 3-inch dingbats to 2-feet masterpieces.
Beatrice from Studio Three will be doing a demo on “Pimping Your Rags: Embellishing Cloth Napkins” in the Maker Shed at noon today, but if you miss her then, you can catch her out in the barn showing her simplified screen printing techniques.
There are so many amazing Makers out in the barn, ready to show you their projects, answer your questions and help you craft something new. Be sure to take your time to explore and chat with all of them!
