Creating a Crafty Google Map of Austin

Crafty_Google_Map_Austin.jpg
When I visited Portland, Oregon earlier this summer, I had no problem researching all the cool crafty spots to hit during our visit. Thanks to Diane Gilleland’s Google Map of the crafty Portland hot spots, I could easily plan a crafty adventure there. Inspired by her ingenious use of Google Maps, I’ve started a crafty map of Austin so folks who are visiting for Maker Faire, or are inspired by what they see at Maker Faire, can connect with other crafty folks in Austin or visit some of our many creative hot spots. And while I am connected to a lot of folks in the Austin craft scene, I can’t pretend to know every hot spot in town, so this map is a collaborative one. If you know of a craft-related location to add (fabric store, craft class location, place with frequent craft gatherings) please add them! Be sure to read Google’s tips on adding items to a collaborative map.
