Dean Kamen to Talk at World Maker Faire

The Make: and Maker Faire teams are really excited for World Maker Faire, taking place on September 20 and 21 at the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) in Queens.

The 5th annual Greatest Show & Tell in New York City looks to be our best one yet. There will be more than 700 exhibits by makers, including hands-on activities everywhere you look. (Be sure to wear your safety waiver wristband!) Performances and attractions will be found in every zone of the event, spanning many acres of the largest park in Queens. That park and NYSCI itself are storied sites of awe and innovation, the location of the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs, which themselves are celebrating their 75th and 50th anniversaries respectively (and enjoying a conversational resurgence).

All of which makes us extremely thrilled to announce the talk Investing in Today for a Secure Tomorrow by legendary inventor and maker Dean Kamen. Popularly known as the inventor of the Segway PT and accomplished builder of prostheses, Kamen is also the founder of FIRST Robotics, which can be found at nearly every Maker Faire. (Also, if you’ve ever attended a FIRST regional or international championship event, you know they’re an absolute blast.)

So get ready. Get excited. This is going to be one heck of an electrifying weekend, opening with a guaranteed thrilling presentation!
