At Macworld we gave SketchUp “Best of show” it’s one of the quickest, easiest ways to “make” things in 3D – and there’s even a plug-in that puts your creations in Google Earth in 3D. A lot of set designers and film folks also use the tool to set up scenes, including a film that was all over the news today.
Using the “Good Night and Good Luck” script, production designer James Bissell modeled the entire studio set in SketchUp. All sets and camera angles were pre-visualized with this dynamic 3D modeling tool. The final movie maintains the integrity of the virtual sets designed in SketchUp.

wow, now i almost feel guilty having a pirated copy…
almost.
looks nice, however the price is way too high to make it a personal tool.
It is a great product BUT it has lousy support – I wrote seven emails to the company trying to upgrade from an older version (as per their offer) and was never answered. BUT if I wanted to pay full price for a new version they were more than happy to take my money.
I have moved on to better products.
Don’t waste your money.
