Moleskine modding is certainly alive and well these days – Flickr member SHoXCoRp made this stealthily portable drive enclosure from one of the popular note/sketchbooks – an interesting option for those who can’t squeeze in any handwriting between laptop sessions – moleskine hard drive mod

I wonder how hot it gets? I don’t usually use external drives for extended periods so heat’s probably not an issue for me.
I think it would make an excellent Time Machine drive. I like the idea of all my data in a little Moleskine notebook.
If you look at the last photo in the photo set, he is monitoring the temperature, and it seems to not get above 33, I am assuming that is celsius.
Great Idea! I’m building one now….
Nerdy, Practical, Ironically Juxtaposed Concept, if there is another mod out there that is as stylish and classy as this, I’ve not seen it. This thing is like the nerd equivalent of a tasteful Italian suit. WANT.
Destroying a moleskin journal? Blesphemy!
I’d pick that up if I saw it laying around somewhere. Pull out the hard drive and scrap paper and use the cover to rebind some new paper. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for one of these mods so I can restore the journal and get on make.
Have a little pity for that poor hard drive and add a heat sink and maybe even a peltier cooling chip on the other side.
An improvement is to epoxy in a USB plug on the edge of the book instead of leaving the cord dangling out.
Not shown but is the drive screwed down inside the book? Or just rely on the band strap?
‘make’ the ability to add in a few sheets of paper at the top cover so to address the ‘destroying’ comment.
