The CRAFT team loves handmade goods! Here’s our special list of what each of us are coveting this holiday season.
Arwen O’Reilly Griffith: Single Bud Vase by Cynthia Vardhan Ceramics ($40)
I often end up with a single flower or two after a walk with my toddler, and there’s nothing lovelier than having a reminder of our outings on the windowsill. I love these elegant bud vases; the subtle colors and texture and curvy shapes would look beautiful with wildflowers and hothouse blooms alike.
Natalie Zee Drieu: Wool Cloche – Black Circles by Liza Rietz ($38 – on sale)
I’ve been following the design work of Portland, OR based Liza Reitz ever since we featured her in CRAFT: 08. I love hats and this wool cloche is the perfect way to stay warm in the winter and look adorable at the same time!
Shawn Connally: Silver Fox Scarf by Donna Wilson ($84)
The Silver Fox Scarf by Donna Wilson is as cute as it is cruelty-free, as clever as it is soft, and as an extra bonus it’s warm and practical. Love!
Becky Stern: Satellite Earrings by Down to the Wire Designs ($225)
I’ve been coveting these satellite earrings by Down to the Wire Designs in Seattle, WA ever since I saw the first pair grace the pages of the CRAFT Flickr pool last year. I love the way the tiny rivets and domes come together to form charming replicas of orbiting spacecraft.
Rachel Hobson: Magic Carpet Print by Tugboat Printshop ($115)
I’m still dreaming about this gorgeous wood block print from Tugboat Printshop that I spied at World Maker Faire in New York. The husband and wife team behind Tugboat Printshop creates amazingly detailed hand carved wood blocks from which their beautiful prints are pulled. Magic Carpet depicts a space capsule floating in the ocean with a seagull flying over, and makes the space geek in me giddy.
Brookelynn Morris: Vintage Silk Necklace by Carrie Hollister ($165)
The unbearable lightness of silk! I have long coveted this intricate vintage fabric necklace from Renga Arts. Each perfect bead is a piece of art in its own right. Handstiched by Carrie Hollister, even the “chain” is luxurious silk.
Lish Dorset: Super Star Stamp Necklace by The Small Object ($24)
I love just about everything The Small Object’s Sarah Neuburger makes. I celebrated my 30th birthday with the Cupcake Cutie, so I think Santa should make room in his bag for this awesome necklace – perfect for New Year’s Eve party crafting!
Laura Cochrane: Made to Order Custom Soft Leather Winter Mukluks by Spirocreations ($475)
These handmade gold mukluks are the object I am currently in love with. At $475, they are an investment, to be sure. But they are gorgeous!
Goli Mohammadi: Snowflake Mask in Silver by TomBanwell ($39)
It’s no secret that my favorite season is winter, and that I adore snowflakes. So naturally I fell in love with this delicate and unique cut leather mask by Tom Banwell. (It’d be great if he had a non-leather version, but it’s gorgeous nonetheless.) What occasion would I wear this for? Doing snow dances, of course!
