Before you throw out that old T-shirt, make sure that your knives all have handles, otherwise you might want to make a beautifully crafted hilt from your old T-shirt, like maker Amy Qian did. After being given a handmade paring knife blade, Qian undertook the making a handle for it from a mixture of T-shirt fabric and epoxy.
In the spirit of Nick’s experimental knife-making, I decided to embark on some experimental handle making. I’ve been reading online that making micarta (a composite material commonly used for knife handles) is just a matter of mixing epoxy with your fabric of choice.
