Homemade Salacious Crumb Backpack

It turns out that adding some hand-painted details to a slouchy backpack is a great way to make it look surprisingly like a creature from a sci-fi movie. At least that’s what Cat Penfold did when she cunningly captured the likeness of Kowakian monkey-lizard Salacious B. Crumb, the court jester for Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, in this upcycled leather backpack.

This purse is hand-painted by me (that’s five years at art school working for ya) with professional-quality acrylic paint, and sealed with UV-protective gloss finish coating. Acrylic paint is flexible, water-proof and very durable, but it’s not invulnerable to scratches.
