We’re super excited about our newest issue of MAKE, Volume 38, which hits newsstands this week. Featuring over 50 projects, 15 of which are camera and A/V focused, this volume aims to please a wide range of makers. Learn how to build a brownie-pan LED light panel, a wireless ergo mouse, a CNC bench, a GoPro swivel camera mount, $10 panniers from 5-gallon buckets, a RaspPi-powered FM transmitter, an R/C remote drop mechanism, a glow bike, a passive-solar habitat for native solitary bees, a piezo contact mic, a stairwell spray booth, a vintage bulb lamp, video game plushies from 3D models, and even homemade Sriracha “rooster” sauce. Plus, we take an in-depth look at the world of high-tech DIY: makers who scratch-build their own laptops, cellphones, and Google Glass-type eyewear.

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.
