See also: shock absorbtion. Every time I’ve dropped my nano, it’s bounced- and that’s a good thing.
Once I see a homebrew ipod case that features shock absorbtion, and isn’t a ripoff of commercial cases, I’ll probabaly make it.
I see the similarities, but I wouldn’t consider this a rip-off at all. The commercial version is squared and industrial looking, while this MADE one is more artistic and kooky-cool.
As for shock absorption, this looks like it could perform pretty well with a minor modification. It seems to me that replacing the plastic spacers with something more to the tune (no pun intended) of silicone tubing would work pretty well. Perhaps wrap the spacers in foam rubber?
