So you want a polirized lens for your camera, but aren’t willing to shell out the big bucks for a step-down attachment and the lens itself. Here’s a HOW TO on making a polarized lens for your camera using a pair of sun glasses. Link.

It should be noted that the polarized lenses in sunglasses will be of the “Linear” type, where as modern auto focus camera tend to need the “Circular” type of polarized filter. There could be a focusing and exposure issues… no damage to the camera itself, it just might be a bit confused.
This isn’t “making” a polarized lens. This is taking an already-existing polarized lens, and rubber-banding it in front of a camera… I’ve got an article for you, Make: I call it “How to make a red filter”. You’ll need to find some red-tinted plastic wrap. Take the plastic wrap, and rubber band it over the lens of your camera, Voila! Red-vision!
