Matt Campbell found got a CVS disposable camcorder, took it apart and mounted it inside the nose cone of a model rocket. The very impressive resulting videos show the launch from the rocket’s point of view. Richard Baguley interviewed one of them about how they did it here…Link.

My good buddy Ross did some rocketcam stuff a couple of years back. He used one of those low-res, no-zoom, digital video cameras that write to compact flash cards. Cost him ~£40/$80 back then. Video quality isn’t a patch on what these guys are doing, but he did hand build all of his rockets out of paper, card and construction straws (with a bit of plastic bag for a parachute!).
For more info, check out the website that he made.
