Here’s a fun & simple optical illusion you can make – “The Jastrow illusion is an optical illusion discovered by the American psychologist Joseph Jastrow in 1889. In this image, the two figures are identical, although the bottom one appears to be larger.” [via] – Link.
We'll assume you're ok with this, but you can opt-out if you wish.

The bottom one IS bigger. Go ahead cut them out of the picture. Okay, so it’s really just the photo that’s at fault. The forward angle is one reason why the closer one seems larger. In order for this to be entirely correct, the photo should have been taken from directly overhead, eliminating any perspective. Then they would be the same size.
